The University of San Carlos-powered PRISAA 7 men's basketball team lost the PRISAA national title on an inferior quotient after ending their elimination round campaign with a 4-1 slate, creating a 3-way logjam at first place in the standings alongside PRISAA 9 and PRISAA 1. In their last assignment, PRISAA 7 needed to win by 17 points over PRISAA 1 and looked capable of doing such when they led by as much as 16 in the first half. PRISAA 1, not to be outdone, rallied and cut the deficit with USC winning by just 11, 93-82. PRISAA 7's only loss came at the hands of host PRISAA 9 in a game played at 1 p.m. under the intense heat of the sun.
If it was any consolation, their women counterparts barged into the Finals via a 62-56 rout of PRISAA 5. They however failed to duplicate their initial 77-72 trouncing of UST and settled for the silver medal.
After racking up two straight wins at the expense of PRISAA V(Bicol, 93-66) and PRISAA IV-A(Calabarzon, 71-59), the USC-powered PRISAA VII men's basketball team clobbered PRISAA II(Cagayan Valley), 107-80. They are defending national champions in the PRISAA men's basketball event.
The Lady Warriors are also doing well first clobbering PRISAA IX, 91-38 before coming from behind 15 points down in the 4th quarter to upset the highly fancied NCR represebtatives UST Tigresses, 77-72. In their last game, USC also beat PRISAA XII, 81-40.
Both the men's and women's teams advanced to the crossover semifinals.
